In the previous article, we talked about the Ducan diet and why it is highly desirable not to use this diet.

In this article, we will talk about the so-called LCHF diet, or rather, about the LCHF diet, because there are certain varieties (milder and more strict diet options).

But before we talk about LCHF, there is an important issue to be discussed about fats.

What makes us fat

“People get fat because they eat fatty foods” – this statement is already devil knows how many years. And there is some kind of common common logic in this: you eat fats, so they turn into fat. True, at the same time, folk wisdom does not explain what carbohydrates are converted into. In coal and water, or what? And what do proteins turn into – the whites of the eyes, or what? Well, it sounds the same, right?

In addition, if you follow this logic, then when you eat red tomatoes, you will blush. And when you eat green apples, you will turn green. When you eat fish, your gills should grow, when you eat herbs and greens, you should start to hum, and when you eat vegetables, your brain activity should stop – you will turn into a “vegetable”. Well, right, isn’t the logic exactly the same?

So, in fact, it is not fats at all that are responsible for the deposition of fat in the body, but primarily easily digestible (they are “simple”, they are “fast”) carbohydrates: sugar, fructose, sweets, baked goods.

Actually, even just a sharp reduction (or even better – a complete rejection) in your diet of easily digestible carbohydrates can already lead to the fact that you will noticeably lose weight. I know a lot of people who gradually lost ten or even twenty kilograms simply by giving up sugar, pastries, sweets, white bread and a noticeable restriction on fruit consumption (all modern fruits have a lot of fructose, that is, easily digestible carbohydrates).

Well, hello, you say, how can you give up sugar if, we quote another “popular wisdom”, sugar is very necessary for the brain!

This cute folk idiocy “sugar is very necessary for the brain to work” is terribly popular, and it is even repeated in articles published in seemingly decent magazines. And it is often repeated by people throwing five tablespoons of sugar into a cup of tea, for whom even the very fact of having at least some kind of brain in their head raises serious doubts.

So, my dears. No sugar, if by it we mean ordinary sucrose extracted from cane or beets, is not only unnecessary for the brain to function, but also dangerous: during the use of sucrose, the sugar level in a person’s blood rises sharply, this is dangerous for blood vessels and, accordingly, the brain and internal organs. And where can you quickly remove excess sugar? Yes, in fat, of course, in fat reserves.

The brain really needs glucose for normal functioning, but it is quietly synthesized by the body from various, including non-carbohydrate, products in the process of gluconeogenesis.

So do not worry, even if you completely stop consuming sugar and sugar-containing foods, nothing will happen to your brain: if it worked fine, it will work fine.

And think for yourself. But mankind learned to extract sugar not so long ago, somewhere only a thousand years ago. Instead, they used honey, raisins, fruits (fruits, by the way, then contained significantly less easily digestible carbohydrates), and in general, the consumption of simple carbohydrates was many orders of magnitude less than in modern life. And what, they were all fools? And then, when they began to extract sucrose from cane, beets, sorghum or beans, suddenly they grew wiser? Yes, something is somehow not noticeable, so that everyone has grown wiser.

Meanwhile, human nutrition at the modern level of development of the food industry contains such a wild amount of sugar that our ancestors never dreamed of. And okay, there are also well-known sources of sugar – all kinds of sweet soda, pastries, jams, and so on. But now they put sugar in literally everything! Bread is full of sugar (especially in white), all sorts of sauces are almost always with sugar, sugar is constantly shoved into yoghurts, into canned vegetables, into sausages, and so on and so forth.

When I got diabetes and began to carefully read the composition of the products on the label in stores, I found out that it is rather difficult to find a product that does not contain sugar. And if with natural products – meat, fish, vegetables – everything is still okay, then just some semi-finished product or ready-made product – everything is in sugar.

So why, one wonders, be surprised that humanity is rapidly gaining weight and that almost half of the population is overweight?

However, we were carried away into some kind of sugars, but we are actually talking about fats, let’s return to them.

Another stereotype about fat is that fatty foods are unhealthy because they lead to heart disease. Moreover, this stereotype was supported for a long time by various specialists.

However, recent research has rehabilitated fats! Because there is no proven link between saturated fat – meat, lard, cream, butter – and heart disease.

In the same way, modern research has shown the utter groundlessness and even harmfulness of the war on cholesterol that people, under the influence of the calls of doctors, waged in the last century. It turned out that cholesterol can be “good” or “bad”, that “good” cholesterol, on the contrary, reduces the symptoms of atherosclerosis, and that the so-called “bad” cholesterol also prolongs life after 60 years at an increased level.

Well, now we can talk about the LCHF diet.

What is LCHF? This is Low Carbon High Fat, meaning low carbohydrates, high fats.

The LCHF diet is based on two basic principles that we have already discussed above.

  1. The old notions that people get fat from fatty foods are wrong. Digestible carbohydrates (also called “empty carbohydrates”) have an order of magnitude more impact on fat storage than fat.
  2. The old notions that high fat intake can lead to cardiovascular disease are also wrong, and they have been debunked for a decade.

Accordingly, the LCHF diet calls for the consumption of as little carbohydrates as possible, and does not introduce any restrictions, except for the usual reasonable ones, in terms of proteins, fats and fiber. And this, in general, sounds quite logical. This is how our ancestors ate for hundreds of thousands of years, until they began to grow wheat, potatoes and rice, and then they also learned how to extract sugar from cane or beets – and away we go!

The essence of the LCHF diet can be described very simply: we do not consume sugar, we do not consume easily digestible carbohydrates, we consume carbohydrate and starch products at the very minimum, and the basis of nutrition is made up of natural products rich in proteins, fats, fiber, minerals and vitamins.

Such nutrition is not only quite useful, but also, unlike easily digestible carbohydrates, it satisfies the appetite well and for a long time, so that a person simply does not need to eat a lot.

Actually, the very famous “Mediterranean Diet”, which is considered one of the healthiest in the world and thanks to which the inhabitants of the Mediterranean region are in good health and live a long time, in many components, in general, is quite consistent with the provisions of the LCHF diet: meat, fish (including fatty varieties), seafood, natural fats (the basis of the bases is olive oil, an excellent source of monounsaturated fatty acids necessary for the body), a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits, grain bread, red wine, consumed in moderation.

In the LCHF diet, the ratio of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates in the standard version (there are several modifications of it) is something like this (given on the LCHF.ru website ):

A gram of fat provides almost 2.5 times more calories than a gram of protein or carbohydrates, so a person gets satiated faster with fatty foods, while reducing the risk of overeating.

Keto diets

With very low levels of carbohydrates in the diet and high levels of proteins and fats, the human body can enter a state called ketosis – this is when the liver converts fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies. These bodies go to the brain and are used as a source of energy. In a state of ketosis, a person loses weight quite quickly, because the body is actively processing subcutaneous adipose tissue. (Actually, something similar happens in diabetic ketoacidosis, only there the nature is completely different.)

Keto diets that use this effect are actively used by athletes, especially bodybuilders, but the safety of such diets is in question and there are many contraindications.

From the outside, such diets look very peculiar – you need to eat a lot of fat in order to quickly lose weight – but at the same time they only once again confirm the fact that a person is not getting fat from fat.

The LCHF diets argue that with this type of diet, you especially do not need to monitor the amount of calories consumed. Like, when you practically do not consume fast-digesting carbohydrates and severely limit the use of carbohydrates as such, then you will lose weight even if you start going over your ceiling of kilocalories.

By the way, adherents of the LCHF diet generally consider the calculation of kilocalories a terrible delusion, because, they say, kilocalories obtained from harmful sugar is one thing, and from noble fat is another thing. And on their website there is even a history of the experiment of one guy who, on the LCHF diet, went through the daily norm of kilocalories by half and still did not get fat, but let me not believe this story, especially if the guy had noticeable excess weight and he drove it on the LCHF diet.

But in general, I have a completely positive attitude to the LCHF diet itself, moreover, as for a diabetic, it is simply necessary for me in general. But this diet, as well as the statements of LCHF adherents, should be treated with a reasonable degree of doubt, because even on this diet without following certain principles, you may not achieve the desired result.

The developers of this diet themselves understand that, no matter how they find fault with the calorie counting system and claim that on the LCHF diet, you can not control the amount of food consumed at all (they use a vague term – “to saturation”), in most cases it is so will not work. It’s just that if a person knows how to limit the amount of food consumed and understands well what, how much and when you can eat, and what, how much and when not, then it will work for him, and even if you strictly adhere to the principles of the LCHF diet, but for lunch and dinner, beat a kilogram steak with a heap of vegetables and a handful of olives (all highly recommended), and snacking on a whole avocado with a handful of nuts twice a day (all also from the permitted and recommended), then the hell with two you will be able to lose weight.

Everything should work in a complex, and there are many subtle points. What we will talk about in the next articles.

But one thing can already be learned with all the inexorable evidence: sugar, sugar-containing foods and fast-digesting carbohydrates will have to be abandoned in any case, otherwise you may not even dream of losing weight. Another thing is that very often it is completely not enough just to give up sugar and fast-digesting carbohydrates, alas. But this is a solvable problem.

Well, in order to close the topic of various methods leading to weight loss (or complete bringing in shape), we need to talk about two approaches: weight loss clinics and surgical methods.

Slimming clinics

I heard a lot about clinics for weight loss in the old Soviet times. We had a good acquaintance of the family – a very overweight lady who periodically went to such a clinic, because the doctors told her that if she didn’t lose weight, she would risk dying soon enough from a heart attack (unfortunately, she has a heart naughty, but you can’t blame him for it – the lady was such, as they say, “in the body” that no heart could bear).

The lady hated these clinics with all her heart, and it was with great difficulty that they drove her there through the efforts of the whole family and family friends, but from her I knew how it all worked in Soviet times. Apparently, this was a concentration-type weight-loss clinic: the clients of the clinic (not to say – “guests”) were put on food with a level of somewhere between 700-800 kilocalories per day, and they also did not take much steam with food: black bread, boiled meat, cabbage, beets (for some reason), liquid broth and buckwheat porridge (for some reason). All – in the corresponding negligible quantities, and these unfortunate fascists also fed the unfortunate only three times a day, so that they went through all the circles of hell there.

Of course, on such a diet, people dropped five, seven and even ten kilos in a week, experiencing tremendous mental and physical suffering, then the happy ones returned to the family and there they ate to the previous level literally in the same week, if not faster.

What is the meaning of such bullying, I did not understand at all, because it was obvious that such clinics did not lead to any normal result, and the lady ended up getting more and more gorged.

Once she even ended up in the newest experimental clinic, where, in addition to food sadism, strictly scientific experiments flourished – also in the spirit of an enlightened concentration camp. They tried to wean the unfortunate fat men from any harmful food with the help of electric shocks. Picked up some kind of eclair – get such a non-acidic discharge. Grabbed a cupcake – another discharge. I tried to have time to put chocolate candy in my mouth – discharge, discharge, another discharge. I do not know, however, where these electrodes were attached to them, she did not tell. Hopefully not genitals after all.

By the way, after that she really developed a disgust for eclairs and she switched exclusively to biscuit cakes. 

All sorts of weight loss clinics around the world were quite common (especially in developed countries), and are now very common. I have sometimes come across descriptions of such clinics in fiction. I remember that Mario Puzo’s excellent novel Let the Fools Die described a clinic in North Carolina in which patients were put on a strict rice diet and exercise, promising them to lose at least five to seven kilos a week.

In another book I read about the famous clinic in which patients were put on a kefir-curd diet. I also heard about a clinic that exclusively practiced a raw food diet. And so on.

Some time ago I started consulting with a lady who is a professional and very knowledgeable dietitian. I wanted to know if I had come to the right conclusions on my own, if I had fallen into some dangerous heresy that terrifies the world of nutritional science. It turned out that he did not fall, that he drew completely correct conclusions, but that is not the point now.

I told her about that famous clinic from North Carolina, where patients were tortured with a rice diet, but they lost five, seven, or even ten kilos a week.

– Do I understand correctly, – I asked the lady-nutritionist, – that this is the most classic mono-diet?

– Yes, that’s right, this is a mono-diet.

– Do I understand correctly that this is a thing in any distant future, not only meaningless, but also very harmful, because a person on a mono-diet, firstly, experiences serious suffering, and secondly, is losing weight at a dangerous rate, and thirdly, after returning to a normal diet, will he very quickly pick up everything that he lost, and at the same time, most likely, will get even more fat?

In general, yes, all this is logical. Therefore, such clinics have existed, exist and will continue to exist. Well, how not to put on a few hundred or thousands of dollars’ worth of fat fat woman? And that for them it is both meaningless and harmful – well, who cares at all?

However, it should be noted here that there are also quite normal clinics that help people lose weight and get in shape. And everything is clear and understandable there: first, the patient undergoes a full examination in order to find out the state of his health, then the basic principles are explained in detail, the appropriate dietary regimen is selected for him and how to act. After that, the patient already at home fulfills the prescriptions that he received there, and periodically shows himself to the doctor who leads him in order to control his condition and get some tips and adjustments. If such a clinic employs good professional nutritionists and they are not bought on the vine by all sorts of herbalife and magic pills of the Chinese doctor Sun Won, then this approach is both correct and correct, and certainly not too expensive. Because really, when you don’t promise “five to ten kilos a week”, you won’t take a lot of money for it. But on the other hand, the conscience of a nutritionist is clear, and people really help to get in shape.

As it turned out, it is not only the march that can be cut back. You can also cut your stomach.

There are and have been practicing for quite a long time various methods of intervention in the body, leading to weight loss. Indications for certain methods are usually prescribed in accordance with the body mass index (BMI), which is calculated as the weight in kilograms divided by the square of the height in meters. Well, that is, roughly speaking, from the level of excess weight.

Ballooning

The simplest method, which is not an operation, is the same gastric balloon , which was actively advertised on the Web some time ago.

The patient first undergoes gastroscopy in order to identify diseases in which the balloon cannot be used, after which an empty balloon, rolled into a tube, is inserted into his stomach. The balloon is then filled with 500 ml of water. Disconnect the tube from the balloon – and that’s it, the process is over.

The scheme of action is extremely simple: the balloon occupies a significant part of the stomach, therefore, a person simply physically cannot eat much. Plus, the balloon constantly stimulates the saturation receptors (it tells them: the stomach is full, gentlemen, tell your owner-hostess that you can no longer eat), which are located in the upper part of the stomach, where the balloon is placed, so the person almost does not experience hunger.

By the way, immediately after installing the balloon, the body tries to inform its owner that something is wrong. A person experiences all sorts of unpleasant sensations, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and other delights. But gradually the body adapts to the balloon and the discomfort disappears.

How it works? In principle, it works well – a person, of course, is losing weight, his body simply has nowhere to go: it will not be possible to eat much, and there is really no appetite.

So what’s the problem? The main problem is that this is not a lifetime recipe at all. A foreign body cannot be kept in the stomach forever; after a maximum of six months, the balloon will have to be removed. And what will happen to a man who has lost a lot of weight, who can now devour an elephant and who has finally returned to a brutal appetite? That’s right, it will go full in a couple of months with terrible force, which usually happens.

Hole in the right side

A more advanced method, which is usually shown for people with a higher BMI (40 to 50), is a gastric band, or as I call it, the hole in the right side. You can’t whistle with this hole, but nevertheless.

What is the essence of the method? A special ring (gastric band) is placed on the upper part of the stomach just below the esophagus. This operation is done using laparoscopy, that is, without incisions, but through small punctures. At first, the ring practically does not compress the stomach – it should take about two months for the stomach to adapt.

After two months, the doctor injects about five milliliters of liquid into the ring through a special port (a hole in the right side).

At the same time, the ring contracts and noticeably reduces the gap between the upper and lower parts of the stomach. The upper part of the stomach above the ring has a volume of only fifteen to twenty milliliters, that is, roughly speaking, it is a tablespoon of soup.

And what happens when this happens? A person gets a feeling of fullness very quickly, and at the same time he eats very little, accordingly, he loses weight. Moreover, this person is going, for example, to go on vacation to Spain or Italy. And how to go to Spain or Italy and not be able to eat Spanish-Italian goodies? So, the question is solved. A person comes to the doctor, he, through a hole in his right side, pumps out the liquid from the ring, the person goes to Spain-Italy and eats there in three throats. He comes back, goes to the doctor, who pumps liquid through the hole in his right side – that’s it, we are losing weight again.

The method, by the way, is very popular in the world, I had several friends doing this operation and, in general, they were quite happy with the result – well, in the sense that they eventually regained normal weight. Moreover, the operation itself is laparoscopic, after it you recover very quickly, the integrity of the walls of the gastrointestinal tract is not disturbed and the method is completely reversible, that is, at any time you can remove the ring altogether and the anatomy of the gastrointestinal tract is completely restored.

What are the disadvantages? Although it was laparoscopic, it was an operation, a foreign body in the body, a hole in the right side. Also, for the entire period of the ring, there is a special diet: you can not mix solid food and liquid. Yes, yes, because the liquid erodes solid food, it slips into the lower part of the stomach, and that’s it – you want to eat. So drink only before meals and at the earliest an hour after meals. But it doesn’t suit everyone – for example, it doesn’t suit me.

Well, it’s clear that you don’t go through your whole life with a ring, after losing weight you will take it off, and then what? It is known that – hello, new kilograms, how long have I seen you!

Gastric bypass

Serious surgery, indicated for very overweight people. There are several different options, but one of the main ones is the so-called Roux-en-Y bypass. The essence of this operation is that a so-called “small stomach” with a volume of 20 to 50 ml is created, and then a loop of the small intestine is sutured to this “small stomach”.

Well, you know, like a plumber takes one gut from a pipe and connects it to another hole.

That is, after the operation, food goes according to the principle “We pass, citizens, we pass, we do not stay anywhere”. And purely physically, a person cannot eat a lot – the “small stomach” has a volume of only twenty milliliters. And what interesting sensations a person gets if he eats one teaspoon more than fits in this ventricle, and cannot be conveyed, they described it to me in all the details.

It works very well – from the point of view that a person returns to normal weight in about a year. For example, in the United States, such operations are done about two hundred thousand a year. They are also very popular in Europe, and in Russia too. Although wealthy people travel to Europe, the United States or Israel to do similar operations.

I personally know several people who have done similar operations and have come to normal weight from specific obesity. They told me in detail about all the peculiarities of life after such an operation.

General features of life after intervention in the stomach

What do people who have done any of the above tricks (gastric balloon, hole in the right side, gastric bypass) say? (By the way, there are other methods with similar action, but these are the main ones.)

All these people said that they had to go through very strong psychological and physical tests. And they all reacted to it in different ways. Some were so determined and motivated to get in shape that the inability to eat as much as you want, and any troubles at the slightest excess of the amount of food did not take them out of the rut. But the other first months of the new diet were recalled as, I quote, “it was a specific hell, just hell.”

And there, depending on the method, there are still all sorts of serious restrictions on the type of food. For example, with a stomach ring, as I was told by survivors of this case, you can only eat hot liquid food. Or just dry food, which you just have to wash down, as everything quickly and cheerfully runs back. You can’t drink cold either – the stomach pushes out. Certain types of food (including necessary ones) the stomachs of these people simply refused to accept, even when ground.

(According to one lady, “For the first two months I vomited three times a day,” I apologize for such naturalistic details.)

And many of them began to experience problems from a lack of trace elements and vitamins. This, of course, can be compensated in a certain way, but nevertheless.

Well, almost all of them talked about serious moral suffering when they understood that you cannot eat as much as you want, you cannot eat what you want and what you love, and they also all described their very unpleasant sensations at the slightest excess of the possible amount of food.

However, as the old saying goes, “no pain, no result!” It’s better to go through very unpleasant sensations, but return to normal weight and normal life, than to remain fat with all the ensuing problems, illnesses and the threat of death.

Such methods have helped, help and will help a large number of people who could not cope on their own, so everyone must decide for himself whether he will go for such a surgical method or not. (Well, note that almost all of these operations are very expensive.)

As we said in the last issue , the second stage that the aspirant to lose weight comes to is the choice of diet. Meanwhile, there are thousands of different diets in the world. Or even tens and hundreds of thousands. However, despite the apparent variety, these diets (along with dietary patterns) can be broken down into a very small number of groups.

Group # 1 – Calorie Counting

Strictly speaking, this is not even a diet, because there may not be any restrictions on food – only in quantity. It all works very simply: with the help of special tables or simple programs, you determine what maximum calorie content of food you should consume during the day in order to start losing weight at the desired rate. Next, you use the calorie tables or using simple programs to calculate your daily menu, after which you start eating, adhering to this menu, and most importantly, the amount (weight) of a particular dish.

On the one hand, calorie counting is a simple, visual and indicative tool for assessing what you eat as food and how certain physical activities will affect the process of losing weight, however, when the whole nutrition system is replaced by the “calorie counting” tool , with the help of which you need to get in shape, here you often get a complete zilch. Although, as a tool, counting calories is a very important thing and for the vast majority of cases it is simply necessary. But precisely as a tool.

I, reading all sorts of forums on weight loss and studying what users write about these or those systems, just wondered how some people manage to pervert certain types of weight loss methods. For example, about the calorie counting system a hundred times I came across statements from the series: “Oh, girls, I was so hungry almost all day, so I was so hungry, but in the evening I was able to allow myself to eat a piece of cake.” She was so hungry all day, so hungry. I suffered in inescapable melancholy. But in the evening, she beat her body with nimble, like a sperm, high-calorie carbohydrates that would cause her insulin burst, a temporary attack of irrepressible energy, as a result of which she might even wash the dishes, and then these carbohydrates will quickly and freely settle in her fat layer. And, interestingly, after this, after a short time, the body will again require a lot of insulin (and cho, in the evening it was so good) and the lovely lady will again want to EAT. Moreover, not to eat, namely to EAT, because easily digestible carbohydrates are so harmful that, on the one hand, they give a short-term feeling of satiety, but then after them the feeling of hunger reappears quite quickly, and at that, atrocious.

Well, why do you need to sit on such “diets”? This is not only pointless, but also specifically harmful.

Also, I often saw joyful letters on the forums about how people discovered the “Mini concentration camp for quick weight loss” diet, where daily food is limited to fascist and completely inhuman 600-800 kilocalories per day. People, gnashing their teeth, sit on such a diet, lose two or three pounds a week and think that all this is good, all this is correct, you just need to be patient – and then the end is near.

Well, the end is not the end, but in a hospital on such a “diet” to please – just spit, get some serious diseases – just spit, and after this diet, after a short time, a person will quickly become fat, and even more than ever – here I am ready to bet on anything: I can even put my beloved pet on the line – I mean my computer.

But even when people nevertheless approach the calorie-restricted diet more responsibly – they do not go to extremes, they keep the recommended rate of weight loss, choose the right foods and their ratios – unfortunately, without fulfilling several other conditions, a large number of these people, having reached the desired weight, then after a while they are again eaten away. Because they stop looking after themselves, they stop controlling themselves. And this cannot be avoided: if you were once fat (fatty) and managed to return to normal weight, then the body will still remember those sweet years when it made such wonderful fat reserves and was so freely nourished so that it would have these reserves could save and multiply.

I, of course, do not and cannot have accurate statistics, however, of all my friends-acquaintances who happily lost weight according to the calorie counting system (I repeat once again: as an assessment tool, the calorie counting system is very effective and often absolutely necessary), then they were again consumed ALL. In general, everything. My sample is, of course, completely unrepresentative, but this is just a small private observation. Moreover, the maximum retention period for the result was about a couple of years, and the rest, as a rule, were gradually eroded again in just a year.

And note that when you are losing weight, almost all of your friends and acquaintances will happily note out loud that you are losing weight, and when you start to get fat again, everyone will be silent about it. Out of delicacy. And you, if you cease to control yourself, will not notice that you are getting fat again – just as you did not notice it, getting fat the very first time.

Group number 2 – mono-diets

A terribly popular type of diet among lovely ladies, because it captivates them with its simplicity and speed of the result. Whether he bribes them with the simplicity of acquiring problems with the stomach, pancreas, liver, skin, as well as the complete lack of results in any way in the long term – I do not know, but, apparently, it bribes, because these diets are very popular and are constantly discussed.

What is their essence? Yes, the fact that you are left with only one main product for consumption, and in this case it does not matter at all which one: rice, kefir, buckwheat, cabbage, carrots, chicken or apples.

What is the mechanism of action here? Yes, you know which one: you deprive the body of a balanced diet and at the same time overfeed it with one single product. Naturally, the body has to draw resources to obtain energy from pre-stored reserves, but where does it go? And you really do lose weight very quickly – by 4-7 kilograms per week.

What are the downsides? Yes in everything! There are no advantages at all. Firstly, to sit, for example, a week only on rice, buckwheat or cabbage – this is really very, very difficult. Even one day to sit on rice, buckwheat or cabbage is already a test for the psyche. And already a day on kefir or cottage cheese … I tried it once: I can only say that within a radius of five hundred meters from me all living beings were in terrible danger, it’s good only that I felt such a breakdown that I was not able to drag me to window machine gun to shoot everyone in the rags.

But a day is still here and there, in fact, a day on a mono-diet will not create any special problems and this can be considered simply as a “fasting day” – a thing, in general, even useful.

But 5-7 days or even more – such a huge imbalance in the diet leads to a wide variety of troubles, and constant diarrhea (a faithful companion of a kefir or curd diet) is not the worst thing. There is also anemia (oat and apple mono diets), gallstones, decreased hemoglobin and constipation (rice), skin problems (kefir), dietary hepatitis (carrot) and other entertainment.

Even the chocolate mono diet is popular with some lovely ladies and honorable gentlemen. Although it would seem! But no, there is one, quite famous: chocolate and coffee, coffee and chocolate. Because it’s delicious, and cool, and you really lose weight quickly. In a separate form, without other products, it gives an absolutely amazing blow to the central nervous system, liver and pancreas, and if you sit in this madhouse for a week, you can lose weight perfectly to insulin-dependent diabetes: this is an effective and very short way to achieve this bright goal.

What do mono diets give besides troubles and health problems? Nothing at all. A short-term rapid weight loss is a strong blow to the body, weight also decreases due to muscle tissue, and, of course, the weight will return quite rapidly and, as always in such cases, with excess. Moreover, after mono-diets, the body stores fat much more actively than before them, precisely due to stress.

Also, long-term (over three days) mono-diets are always accompanied by poor health, disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, may be accompanied by bouts of aggression or, conversely, complete apathy, so my advice to you: if your spouse (husband) began to get involved in mono-diets, collect you your little things and dump for this time to live with a friend or just in a hotel, you will be more whole.

No, don’t get me wrong, for situations where, for some reason, people with more or less correct weight need to lose a few pounds, this is completely normal: to sit on a mono-diet for a couple of days and quickly achieve the desired result. Why, for example, the names of professions are often found among mono-diets – for example, “Jockey diet”, “Model’s diet” and so on. These are their purely professional things, it works great for them.

Somehow I had the opportunity to get acquainted with how the most real fashion model eats. Honestly! Then I could not sleep for two nights: I kept jumping out of bed, running to the refrigerator, opening the door and caressing the stocks of such wonderful and so tempting food with my eyes. And I didn’t even have a romance with this photo model: how can you start an affair with a man who eats two boiled Brussels sprouts for lunch, and yogurt and an apple for dinner? When I looked at her food, hungry faints immediately began. 

But when a fat woman (fat man) sits on a mono-diet for a long time and she (he) is quite seriously going to bring herself into shape with such a madhouse, then you need to immediately call the telephone operator. Oh, the orderlies should be called, not the telephone operator. Or spouse (wife) to move out of the house. No, it’s selfish. You better tie her (him) and read a book about the correct ways to lose weight, and do not untie (and do not feed) until she (he) makes a terrible oath that he will not get involved with these mono-diets under any circumstances. Did you agree? Otherwise, I warned you, just write it down.

Group number 3 – intricate

  • Monday – only apples or pears.
  • Tuesday – only boiled chicken without fat and without skin (no skin, children, this is very important).
  • Wednesday – fresh vegetables, boiled vegetables (pureed).
  • Thursday – hello, white toilet friend: all day only kefir, drinking low-fat yogurt and low-fat cottage cheese; it is better not to leave the house and stay at first base, and if you use low-fat yogurt and cottage cheese, then it is better not to leave the toilet at all – it is irrelevant.
  • Friday – fresh vegetables, boiled vegetables (pureed).
  • Saturday – porridge (oatmeal, buckwheat, rice).
  • Sunday – vegetables and fruits.

Not a single more or less normal man on such a diet will not even make it to Thursday, but women can stand it quite well – at least one week. In this case, you will lose three or four kilos, and without much damage to the body, but with a serious shock to the psyche. And all this, of course, is completely useless for fat men, this works normally only for women who have gained three or four kilos from their normal weight and cannot fit into their favorite dress – yes, this is a quick and completely reliable way. But only for such cases.

What are fancy diets? This is just the “Diet of Larisa Dolina” or “Diet of Irina Otieva”. Everything is the same there, but not every day. That is, for example, one day eat everything as usual, and the next day – on kefir. Then everything is as usual, and the next day – only vegetables. And so on. For special intricacy, instead of just “vegetables” they can write “only mashed beets” or “finely chopped zucchini stewed for half an hour in the light of the full moon”, and then, as you understand, with this abstract “vegetables” there will be less confidence in the miraculous diet from “Larissa Dolina”.

Do these fancy diets help you lose weight? Yes, of course, fasting days will certainly lead to the fact that your weight will decrease. But if on the rest of the days you eat exactly the same as on those serene days when you were over-eaten, the effect will even be negative, because the days of mono-diets are serious tests for the psyche.

Group No. 4 – separate meals

We owe this extremely fascinating, albeit completely unscientific idiot to the American charlatan Herbert Shelton, who, like the wonderful electrical fitter-healer Gennady Malakhov, did not have any medical education, but was actively involved in all sorts of naturopathies, chiropractors, heliotherapy, raw food diet, fasting and other dendrotherapy …

(In an epic voice.) Even as a child, Herbert Shelton, his most respectable mother, declared: “Truly I tell you, Hera, never eat pickles with milk, because they DO NOT COMBINE.” At first, Herbert did not take mother’s words seriously and once ate a pickle with a glass of milk. And when it RAPED, Herbert realized that mother was absolutely right.

Later, when Herbert graduated from the American School of Naturopathy and received his doctorate in naturopathic literature (he successfully treated it by fasting), the future great political scientist thought that if, that means, pickles with milk are not combined, then, it means, there may be other products , which – this – this – also do not match!

Herbert secretly guessed that foods are made up of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, as well as other, less significant components. But what if it’s hard for the body to process, you know, protein and fat at the same time? After all, if a normal sexually mature man simultaneously takes a blonde and a brunette in bed, then what will come of it? One little bit of it will come of it, especially since Herbert reflected in the early twentieth century, when sexual practices were not very common.

Dr. Shelton knew that humans are naturally weak and subject to many temptations. That there are literally few real monotrophs among them. And that others want to eat a wide variety of foods, including processed foods. Well, idiots, what to take from them?

And since Dr. Shelton wanted to help all people, even idiots (especially since they paid well for it), he developed a separate food system, where he clearly described what was allowed and what was not. He compiled a “food compatibility table” based on the careful results of analyzing his inflamed imagination, and further on this table could be used to design a wide variety of diets, which is still being done by numerous followers of this system.

I once learned about the system of separate feeding thanks to one girl. Friends introduced me to her, we started dating – going to the cinema, now and then, and at some point I invited her to dinner. The times were hungry – Soviet and student, so I could not offer ram saddles with truffles, so the menu for a romantic dinner consisted of boiled chicken eggs stuffed with cheese and mayonnaise (a fashionable dish in those days) and fried chicken legs with potatoes.

A sweet girl, seeing the dishes on the table, immediately announced that it was impossible to eat all this by definition, after which she gave me a short two-hour lecture about the great scientist Herbert Shelton and the principles of separate nutrition. And all the sex on that romantic evening was just that I had a brain with this quack system.

I remember that it all ended badly: I starved to the point of sheer brutality, and then briefly but energetically told the girl everything I thought about her, about this damn Shelton and his moronic system. Then the girl left my house forever, and I ate the cooled potatoes with chicken legs, growling with pleasure, like a cave bear.

All sorts of real doctors and scientists have tried many times to explain that the pancreas simultaneously secretes various digestive enzymes, completely regardless of whether the food taken is proteins, fats and carbohydrates, that different enzymes, contrary to the assertions of the venerable charlatan, do not inhibit each other at all, which is separate nutrition is not only unhealthy, but in some cases it is harmful that food as such can contain both proteins, fats, and carbohydrates (or some of these combinations) at the same time, that there is no “separate digestion” that “discovered” Shelton doesn’t exist at all, but it was all to no avail.

Of course, scientists also carried out purely practical experiments, as is always done in cases when it is necessary to confirm or refute a theory. Two groups of people with similar data and similar overweight were taken, and for a certain period (these experiments were carried out many times, and the duration was different) one group received a standard balanced diet with a restriction on calories, and the other received separate meals according to the Shelton method with the same calorie restriction.

As a result of the experiment, it turned out that the separate feeding scheme itself had no effect either on the process of losing weight, or on the condition of the patients, or on the indicators of sugar, cholesterol, insulin, and so on.

So why does the split power scheme still work, and why does it still have hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of fans? Yes, because the diets that are for this diet are low-calorie, contain natural products and it is forbidden to use any fast-digesting carbohydrates there. That is, people are offered a completely correct and healthy diet leading to weight loss, coloring it with all this crap about the “incompatibility” of some products for the imaginary significance. (Note, I will not argue with the fact that pickles with milk are still better not to use, here the honorable charlatan’s mother was absolutely right.)


Separate meals

If you take the “Separate Food Diet” and follow it, while not at all steaming with “compatibility”, then you will lose weight quite normally. It is exactly the same as if you follow this diet, reverently avoiding the blasphemous combination of legumes with meat and eggs and potatoes.

These are all brains, they need to be adjusted. And they are adjusted either under the influence of acquired (here the word “good” is somehow inappropriate, but they just say so) diseases that almost necessarily accompany obesity, or under the influence of suddenly awakened feelings for someone, or under the influence of someone who will correct your brains and tell you the right path, because there are hundreds and hundreds of paths here, and only a few of them are correct.

So, when a fat man suddenly realizes that he, in fact, really needs to get in shape, he usually goes through several traditional stages.

The first stage – he hopes that all this will happen by itself. Well, as if by magic. After all, he decided to lose weight, which means that the body received a command and now has to carry it out. A fat man can even solemnly buy an exercise bike and start spinning it. Five minutes without load. In Week.

After a couple of months, he will notice that, generally speaking, nothing is happening. And it should not happen, because he did not change the diet at all. He is waiting for a miracle. He expects the body to obey the command. And although our organism is an extremely complex biological mechanism, it does not know how to carry out such stupid commands. With him you have to act in a completely different way.

Then the fat man begins to be interested in magic means. You know, the miraculous cartilage of the Kremlin shark, the electronic pill of the Brezhnev Politburo, Chinese powder, Vietnamese pills and the Angolan extract from the thyroid gland of a female dragon from Komodo Island.

All these are terribly expensive drugs that, like an expensive placebo, calm the patient much better than a cheap placebo, but they definitely do not lose weight – except, however, in cases when this rubbish unidentified by science causes severe diarrhea, and here you really are losing weight. Not for long.

Next comes the search for magic diets. But the fat man usually does not look for easy ways. He needs something interesting and innovative. For example, blood test diet. Or a DNA test diet. Or a diet for the analysis of the iris of the eye. Well, you know, the main thing here is to analyze something of yours for two hundred dollars, so that later you will receive an ingenious recommendation from the series “You are not allowed to eat green apples, yellow bananas and red tomatoes.” The diet is called “Traffic Light” and leads, of course, to amazing results: you spent two hundred dollars, but the weight in front of the traffic light did not even think to stop.

After that, the stage finally comes when the fat man realizes that the belly and triple chins will not dissolve by itself, that magic pills or magic diets do not exist in nature, so you will have to really go on some kind of normal diet.

There will be many questions with this too. Because it is not very clear which diet is considered normal. The known diets as such are all normal in their own way and at the same time abnormal. Most of them, on the one hand, lead to the desired result in the form of weight loss, however, as a rule, they give the fat man mental and physical suffering, so he doesn’t have enough fuse for long and it all ends with the fact that at the moment of the crisis the fat man breaks his mouth tightly locked refrigerator doors and integrates itself with all the edible products that are stored there, including a cake, a box of pastries, a pork knuckle and two loaves of already slightly stale, but so delicious bread. And – everything rushed back,

And here you have to go a rather long way, until, finally, you learn for yourself some very important basic principles, until you find a diet scheme that suits you personally, which would not cause moral and physical suffering and, as a result, would allow you to get in shape and keep this wonderful state.

Personally, this process took me three (!) Years. Yes, I’m a brake, I agree. But I know people who have been fighting this way for five to seven years – with very variable success. And they repeatedly step on the old rake, which I also stepped on repeatedly.

But it finally dawned on me. At some point, everything lined up into a clear and harmonious system, and this should be a system, and not just some kind of diet. I worked out very important principles for myself, and this was not collected anywhere, for example, in one book, although the principles themselves, in general, are not a secret at all.

Well, in the end, I decided to write a series of articles on how to bring myself to my senses and do it quickly, comfortably, efficiently, and most importantly – in this “feeling” I already have to stay, not to return to the old terrible state.

Why would you step on multiple rakes, right? Why would you waste several years on something that can be done in just a few months?

I plan to publish about twenty articles on this topic, which will then be combined into one edition. These articles do not fit into any section of my site, so I made a separate section for them and thought for a long time what to call it. “Healthy Lifestyle” – well, well, worn out, and I do not like this term. “Losing weight” – this is the name of the section in the menu, but for the title I would like something brighter.

Wow, how many people immediately fell for this headline. Really, they think, someone will tell you that being fat is not only bad, but also good ?! And indeed: despite the fact that fatty-bbws do not think about their condition until a certain point, they still understand latently that being fat is bad. Firstly, all sorts of doctors are constantly telling them about this. Secondly, they are often reminded of this by others, especially friends and relatives.

Fat men are terribly angry at this. Internally, they understand that doctors, friends and relatives, perhaps, are really right and they, fatty fatties, should not have gotten so fed up, but, on the other hand, what is their dog business? !! This is my body, the fat man thinks, what I want with him is what I do. I want to be fat – and I will be fat, trample it all with a mammoth.

Besides, these doctors – they are assholes, all as one! Today they say one thing, tomorrow another, the day after tomorrow a third. For several decades, they screamed that in no case should you eat fatty, that you need to monitor cholesterol, that fatty foods increase weight, increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and so on and so forth!

And now they say that, according to the latest research, it is not fats that lead to weight gain, but easily digestible carbohydrates and that it is not fatty foods that cause cardiovascular diseases, but the excess weight of the person himself. Forgive us, good people, these doctors and excellent academicians say, we were wrong. You can eat fatty stuff, we allow it. But do not eat carbohydrates, we do not allow.

So maybe tomorrow they will tell you that being fat is actually good? That they were wrong. That not being overweight causes cardiovascular diseases, but, for example, some small gene. A tiny gene, like that scorpion gene that they planted on either wheat or corn, and they definitely planted it on many mother-in-law on the planet.

Vaughn and Exler writes that being fat is good, you have to go and read. Probably the latest scientific research has shown that overweight people have … However, stop, he also has this section called “Weight Loss”, so he will prove that being fat is good, and then he will tell you how to lose weight? Oh they fool our brother, oh they fool!

Yes, dear friends, they make a fool of your and our brother. Because there are no considerations for being fat. I couldn’t think of anything even for starters, although I thought about this for a long time.

However, no, stop! There is one consideration, there is! You can be fat if it matches your stage image. That’s for sure! After all, there are many fat people in life, right? And in cinema and theater, which reflect our lives, someone should play fat men? It’s not the same for the actor to put pillows under his clothes, and it will look unnatural.

Try to imagine thin, for example, Alexander Semchev. Or Mamuka Kikayleshvili, the kingdom of heaven to him. Or John Goodman. Or the House of de Luis. Or Wayne Knight. Stage image, there’s no going anywhere!

Lyrical digression. I remember that in 1999, during a tour along the coast, Ilya Oleinikov and Yuri Stoyanov performed in Sochi-Lazarevsky. We invited them after the concert to have dinner in our restaurant. At dinner, Oleinikov refused fried potatoes and leaned on green salads. Ilyusha is losing weight, losing weight, Stoyanov explained to us, who just leaned on potatoes, and fried chicken, and everything else.

The brain is constructed in such a way that it diligently protects a person from psychological stress. This, on the one hand, is good, but, on the other hand, it leads to the fact that we completely do not notice how we launch ourselves. If they suddenly showed me a hundred and fifteen kilograms (phew, barely pronounced), I would have been shocked, turned gray with grief and, God forbid, had a heart attack.

But I got to this record weight in just a couple of years.

Of course, we notice and celebrate the changes that are happening to us. But since this happens rather slowly, we have time to get used to these changes and they – up to a certain point, of course – somehow do not bother us.

We even flaunt it: I really called myself “a fat and handsome guy”, although only the first half of the phrase was correct there.

Useless

Nobody has the right to tell a fat man that he is a fat man. It is rude, unethical, intolerant and generally offensive. And I still think so: in my life I won’t tell a fat man (especially a fat woman) to his face that he is a fat man. What, ask, reasons? By the way, it is far from being rude, unethical, intolerant, and generally offensive. From completely different considerations, namely because it is devil-to-go! Completely useless! The reaction to such a statement, I remember very well, is a sharp rejection: “And what a dog business is yours”, “I do what I want with myself”, “Wouldn’t you go, you know where”, ” “, and so on.

And the fat man, in general, is absolutely right. This is not your dog’s business. This is his own business. And it is useless for him to say something until the moment when it comes to himself. And it can come slowly, and maybe quickly. This can happen under the influence of some circumstances, or it can come without special external circumstances, if the head itself works well. After all, a fat man (fat woman) understands perfectly well that being fat is bad. He may be fat, but by no means a fool.

Purely physiologically, excess weight for a person is a completely unnatural state. And even at a time when a tribe of ancient people filled up a mammoth and gorged itself to the dump in reserve, everyone was well aware that this “reserve” would be enough for a maximum of one day. And no matter how much you eat this meat, in a day you will be specifically hungry.

And in hunger, as many said, the fat men died just the first, and not the last. They used to eat a lot, and when they were drastically deprived of food, it was wild stress for the body.

You may not admit to strangers, but you will have to admit to yourself that carrying extra weight on yourself is really hard. How much excess weight did you gain there? Thirty-two kilos? Lift two pounds of weights, walk with them all day. Of course, this is not a very correct analogy: firstly, you will add two more poods to your extra two poods, and secondly, the body gets used to excess weight gradually, so the adaptation process is relatively painless.

But in fact, you have to carry two poods on yourself. And, what is unpleasant, absolutely useless two pounds. Moreover, two poods are specifically harmful. And all this must be fed, watered, maintained. Two homeless people, two homeless people have settled in your house, they smell bad, look bad, don’t do a damn thing, pollute your apartment, and you still have to feed and water them and take them to the toilet.

What is the difference from your extra two pounds? None. Useless fat, disfiguring your figure, and you need to feed it all, and still carry on yourself all the time.

The heart works with a constant extra load, other organs work with a constant extra load, but what happens from an excessive load? That’s right, breakage. Sometimes such, after which the mechanism cannot be restored. So is the organism.

The pressure is constantly high and does not go well, without shortness of breath you cannot walk even a hundred meters, and even climbing two flights of stairs is an impossible task at all. And what do you like to live like this?

This cannot happen to me

It is always natural for a person to reassure himself with a very stupid phrase: “Well, this cannot happen to me.” With everyone – maybe, but with him – he cannot. And when experts say that being overweight is a serious factor contributing to diabetes, almost all fat people think that this does not apply to them. In Russia, according to some sources, about ten million (!) People suffer from diabetes, but I certainly won’t get into these statistics, Zhirnyuk thinks.

At one time I thought, I certainly won’t get into this statistics. Because what about me? I am not so overweight either. Only thirty extra pounds – two pounds, two bright stories. What is diabetes-schmiabetic? Diabetes was invented by panties, I said proudly, eating my adored charlotte and washing it with rivers of divinely sweet and effervescent drink called Coca-Cola.

Lose weight? Why lose weight? Panties invented to lose weight, I said. Besides, there is a God in heaven. He will think of something. Not that I strongly believed in him, but they say he helps not only those who believe in him, but others too. I’ll lose weight by myself, I thought. Someday it will happen.

Oddly enough, it really happened as if by magic. They showed me a real miracle: in a few months I lost twenty-five kilograms, while not changing anything in my lifestyle and in my diet. And he also boasted about this to his relatives, who for some reason were not happy, but said that there was nothing good about it, this is clearly a consequence of some kind of disease. Well, they did not believe in a divine miracle.

Just think, I said lightly, it must be some kind of garbage like gastritis or hay fever. Let’s cure, I believe in our medicine.

When – to some extent by accident – they checked in, they found out that I happily joined ten million people because I had developed diabetes. The most real, real. With which, as it turned out, I have already passed about a year. And fast weight loss is just one of the complications of diabetes, when, due to metabolic disorders, muscles and adipose tissue begin to become a source of energy and are actively burned by the body. Here’s a wonderful miracle for you, grandmother. And, by the way, diabetes, as the unforgettable Faina Georgievna said, is not sugar!

So why wait for diabetes in order to lose weight as a result of the fact that something went wrong in the body and he began to eat himself? Moreover, the appearance of diabetes will not necessarily be accompanied by weight loss, and maybe quite the opposite. And acquired diabetes in any case will then remain with you forever, because it is not treated, but only compensated, and efforts for this compensation will have to be spent an order of magnitude more than just losing weight without any diabetes.

Fat-fat man all the time is accompanied by a variety of inconveniences, about which people with normal weight have no idea. In addition to shortness of breath and the inability to move normally, there is also sweating, drowsiness, rapid fatigue (of course, you get tired when you carry two extra pounds on yourself, and who does not get tired here?) the opportunity to see his intimate places, except in the mirror, and with specific obesity, he cannot see them even in the mirror, so he has to wait for intimate places, having taken a selfie, to send him a photo by e-mail.

Personal choice

And one more important point. No matter how the fat fat man swaggers, no matter how he calls himself a glorious bun or a wonderful donkey, deep down he hates his current state. He understands perfectly well that somewhere inside this – let’s be honest – a rather unpleasant-looking shell is a smart, thin, ironic and beautiful person, but he is hidden under these flabby bodies.

Do you know why relatives, friends, and even acquaintances still ask the question: “Why are you so fat?” Because, unlike any unpleasant and dangerous chronic diseases, the fact that a person is fat is only his own fault. This is his personal choice.

Nobody will ask a question from the series: “Why is it that you have such a strong allergy to nuts?” Because if a person has a severe allergy to nuts, getting this disease was not his conscious choice, and he almost cannot control the cure for this disease.

But becoming fat and staying in this state is exclusively a factor of the free will of this particular person. Because nobody forces you to become fat, nobody forces you to stay fat. If you stay that way, this is your conscious choice.

This is something like a minor mental disorder: a person is well aware of all the serious disadvantages of his condition, but does not want to do anything about it. Although it certainly can. This is not done once or twice, it requires some effort and some self-discipline, but this is not a Newton binomial and not cutting with a jigsaw on metal.

Talking about “I have a disease that prevents me from losing weight” – they are exclusively for idiots. If you have thyroid disease, as it was said in one movie, then stop eating thyroids. There is a vanishingly small number of diseases that will not allow a fat person to lose weight if they change their lifestyle and diet accordingly. So all this, as it was its own choice, remains the same. Even with significant metabolic disorders, such as diabetes, you can always get in shape. Yes, it will be more difficult to do, but it is nevertheless quite possible.

However, we will not blame the fat men for everything, otherwise we have completely kicked them. In fact, most of them simply do not have the necessary information about how they can wake themselves up quickly enough and relatively comfortable. We will talk about this in the next issues.

Therefore, she reads on the Internet about diets, chooses some completely idiotic like kefir, carrot, “jockey’s diet” or any other from the collection “Punitive Cooking for Dummies”, will hold out on it for half a day (especially courageous and stubborn will withstand even a whole day) , after which he will gobble up everything that was in the house, and even bite the refrigerator door.

What does that pretty fat man over there who have eaten up to the state of “See my genitals – say hello to them” knows about losing weight? He knows that he needs physical activity. Serious physical activity. Two hours at the gym every day. And he gasps, having climbed five steps. Or after walking three hundred meters to the bus stop. What, to hell, physical activity, he now cannot lift a book without shortness of breath!

Yes, he will likely even buy an exercise bike. Maybe even dear. And he will even start to strain on it once a week – for five minutes without load. He will receive a sense of accomplishment, but this has nothing to do with losing weight.

Practice shows that most fat men, when they make the decision “I will lose weight”, limit themselves to ritual actions: for example, a nice lady will eat not a dozen of pies a day, but only eight, and a cute fat man, besides five minutes a week on a stationary bike, will add one walk around the house upon returning from work.

What result will this lead to? You can guess yourself.

Abstraction of motivation

I myself remember very well what an abstraction the phrase “You need to lose weight to normal weight” sounded for me. It was said to me many times. The last time this phrase was uttered by an endocrinologist, who looked at the readings of my sugar level and listened to my requests to increase the amount of drugs, because “it no longer compensates.”

The doctor then explained that medications, my friend, cannot be added to infinity and that even if you add them, this will not radically change the picture, because your main enemy is unhealthy diet and excess weight. You start to eat normally, put yourself in shape – drugs, on the contrary, can be reduced and even removed. You will not lose weight – the prospects are extremely sad.

Lose weight, then I thought, immediately lose weight, why do I need sad prospects, right? I want bright prospects.

Then, for the first time, the desire to lose weight took on a more or less concrete form, and I began to engage in the same nonsense that many fatty fatties usually do at the very beginning of their losing weight: I bought an exercise bike, for three days I ate only wheat bran for dinner – in general, there was another two and a half years of almost fruitless efforts.

Why? Because everything needs to be done correctly. And don’t do it all wrong. The thought is very deep, but it would be good to try to understand it.

A fruitless effort is bad. And because they do not lead to any result, and because morally it is very unpleasant, and because you stop believing in yourself, and because you begin to believe that nothing will help you. Meanwhile, this is absolutely not so, it will help, and how. There are no people who have not been able to achieve this – under the right conditions.

How to do everything correctly – we will definitely talk in detail, but now a few more words about motivation. Because this is extremely important.

The initial decision always rests with this particular person. Of course, he may have some event in his life that will force him to make this decision. Or it may not happen. In this case, no one will push him, except himself.

Family motivation

Many people are eaten away shortly after starting a family. Like, he got married (got married) – the spouse-spouse will not go anywhere now. They, we think, love my personality, and my body is already the tenth thing.

And this, by the way, is not quite the tenth thing. Sometimes it is the second thing. Or even the first. Moreover, your spouse, most likely, will never tell you in your life that they are disgusted to see your belly, drooping boobs, third chin and a blurry face. Very few people will say this, because – as we have already found out – this is rude, intolerant, unethical and generally not matrimonial.

And these things end very simply: one fine (I mean – unhappy) moment the spouse / spouse picks up things and leaves. To another / another. No warning. Without ultimatums from the series “Either you get in shape, or I go to the fitness instructor Seryozha.”

An example from life. I once worked with a small company. He did everything remotely, did not appear at the office often, but he was familiar with many. One married couple worked there: relatively speaking, Slava and, relatively speaking, Sveta. Slava was such an energetic and fit middle-aged man, he worked as a manager, led several projects. Sveta was a little older than Slava, she worked as an assistant to the chief accountant.

Sveta was a pleasant lady in all respects – friendly, smiling, completely non-conflicting, but she had a complexion in the style of “you are my cow”: plump, even diffuse, with a noticeable second chin. Plus, she still had poor eyesight and wore glasses with thick glasses in old-fashioned horn-rimmed frames, she also liked to wrap herself in some shapeless knitted sweaters and wore some ugly shoes (and you try to walk with such a weight in elegant heels) – in in general, Slava next to her looked more like her eldest son than her husband.

Their relationship was even, Slava took care of her, but in such a way that love-no-love could not be said.

Once I came to the firm, I looked, and there something was wrong. Men walk around the office with vague expressions on their faces, the ladies are crowded in the accounting department, and a woman’s crying is heard from there. Passing by, I looked in – Sveta was crying bitterly at the table, the ladies were comforting her, but Slava was nowhere to be seen.

The director’s secretary, whom I knew well, took me aside and explained: Slava left Sveta and left the family. Although at that time, before the “midlife crisis” he was still seven years old, no less. And he went to the manager Marina from the same firm: I knew her too – a pretty graceful blonde with a boy’s haircut. I also remember Marina wore glasses with very fashionable Italian frames, which were extremely suitable for her.

The women consoled Sveta and scolded Slava, the men sympathized with Sveta, but, apparently, they understood Slava perfectly and even in the depths of their hearts approved.

Well, it happens, life is such a thing, complicated …

It took about six or seven months there. I almost did not cooperate with this office – so, from time to time I consulted on trifles. And once they called me from there and asked to look into the accounting department: to sign some accumulated acts and get the accrued money.

I come. Everything seems to be the same in the office. I greeted the secretary, she told me to immediately go to the accounting department – they say, you will sign everything with Sveta and she will give you money.

I stumbled into the accounting department. I knock, I look at the door – Sveta is not there, I see, she went out somewhere. Some other lady is sitting at her table – a very pretty, graceful blonde with a boy’s haircut. I wonder when Sveta comes up, the blonde starts laughing and gets up from the table.

And then I hardly realized that this is Sveta in person. Thin to the state of “even now for the ball”, in a tight-fitting, spectacular dress, emphasizing a cool figure, without glasses, with bleached hair and a stylish hairstyle. She looked just gorgeous, and she seemed ten years younger than she was before.

Of course, I paid her all sorts of compliments about her wonderful appearance, Sveta accepted compliments with restraint, but not without pleasure, I signed all sorts of papers, received money and said goodbye.

I did not appear in this office again.

About ten years later I accidentally met another lady from that firm on the subway. We chatted about this and that, asked how Sveta was there. The lady told. It turns out that Slava and Marina held out for about a year, after which he left her and asked for Sveta back. She did not accept him. Not that she completely pushed her away and did not let her into the doorway, but she said that they could no longer have any family life.

And then Sveta married the director of this company. Because of her, he left his then-wife, whom, by the way, I saw a couple of times: the lady was also of solid size, but at the same time she was also clearly bitchy.

The director, the lady continued, sold the company, started some kind of business in France, and she and Sveta eventually left there for good. From mutual acquaintances, the lady heard that everything seemed to be fine there – well, thank God.

These are the motivations.

What is it all about? And to the fact that it is better not to wait for this to happen, especially if it is extremely important for you and the gap can be very painful. So maybe you can still bring yourself to your senses before? Without waiting, so to speak, peritonitis …

I need to lose weight of motivation

The phrase “I need to lose weight”, which is often repeated as a mantra by fat people, is actually completely wrong. They don’t need to lose weight. It’s not called that at all.

“I need to lose weight,” a slender girl says to herself anxiously, who finds out that her favorite satin red dress has become a little cramped at the sides. Or that her favorite designer jeans are getting a little worse fit than usual. “I need to lose a couple of kilos,” she says to herself, after which she dines on yoghurts for a week and quietly drops these two kilos.

This is what is called – “I need to lose weight”.

What you need to do, and what I needed to do is not lose weight. You need, firstly, to make a decision that you want to get in shape, and secondly, to start the process of getting yourself in shape, that is, to achieve a normal weight for you without any excesses, and thirdly, to achieve the appropriate result, not stopping halfway, and fourthly, which is also extremely important, to keep yourself in this shape and not to get fat again, which, unfortunately, happens quite often, especially if you go the wrong way.
